Ingredients
- 3 1/2Â all-purpose flour (500 grams) more for dusting work surface
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar m(100 grams)
- 1 stick butter/4 ounces(110 grams)
- 4Â eggs room temperature
- 1/2 glass white wine (125 ml) and or sambuca or limoncello not to exceed 8 ounces
- 2 tsp teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Lemon zest (optional)
- 3 cups vegetable/canola/sunflower oil for frying
- Powder sugar for dusting
- Honey for drizzling
Instructions
(This dough can be mixed and worked by hand).

Step#1- In a stand-up mixer with the hook attachment add your dry ingredients. Slowly add one egg at a time, then the wine and the butter.

Step#2- It should form a soft dough. If it’s too sticky you can add more flour a tablespoon at a time.

Step#3- Remove dough and let it rest covered on your work surface for at least 30 minutes. (You can use a rolling pin or a pasta machine).

Step#4- With a rolling pin, cut a piece of dough and begin rolling and always dusted with a little flour until thin dough is acquired.

Step#5- Cut into rectangular pieces. Make a slit in the middle and pass one side through the slit creating a bow.

Step#6- Using a pasta machine starting with the largest opening. Run the dough through it. Fold it and run through it again. Each time making the opening smaller.

Step#7- Proceed with cutting rectangular pieces and making the bows.

Step#8- In a large frying pan add your oil and bring to 365 degrees. Add your bows and turn when lightly golden.

Step#9- Drain on a cookie sheet lined with paper towels.

You can enjoy them with powder sugar or drizzle honey over them
